Prerequisites

According to the current regulations in force, only fully vaccinated will be able to participate in the big public meetings with the Pope.

Registration for the meeting with the Holy Father in Košice

Volunteers and journalists are now registering in the nationwide register, the link to which is on this official website.

Registration for all participants in the meetings with the Holy Father is also on this official website. We remind you that each participant must first register INDIVIDUALLY; they you may also register GROUPS (e.g. if you will be part of a group coming from parish).

For the sake of the event's organization, we recommend coming in organized groups and register also through our forms (both at the Lokomotiva Stadium and at Lunik IX.) - so that we are able to secure enough parking spaces and other important needs. We will launch group registration soon and you will find it on this page.

Transportation

On the day of the meeting, there will be some traffic restrictions in Košice and it will not be possible to get to the Lokomotiva stadium and Lunik IX by private cars or buses. They will be parked in the prepared parking lots

For this reason, FREE SHUTTLE BUSES will be provided from the car parks. Once groups have registered, we will be sending return emails to those responsible for the groups with organizational instructions and detailed parking instructions.

Pilgrim's packet

We are also preparing a pilgrim's packet for registered groups, which will be available to order. It will include souvenirs (magnets, key rings, pens...) as well as T-shirts and sweatshirts with the official logo of the meeting of the Holy Father Francis in Slovakia. The offer letter will be sent to those who sign up after the registration opens. It will not be possible to sell souvenirs directly at the stadium, so we encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity.

Volunteering

An event of this nature needs many volunteers. Please help us recruit them and please be so kind as to assist us if we need to verify that the person signing up is capable of and trustworthy for the service.

We are attaching an active volunteer sign-up link with details of dates and services. We are especially asking for mature adults to help us with the organization so that as many people as possible can participate directly in the meeting with Pope Francis.

Spiritual preparation

We ask for your prayerful support for the visit of the Holy Father Francis to Slovakia.

There will be a joint spiritual preparation through Catholic media and social networks starting on 15 August, which we bring to your attention.

Celebration of Holy Mass on the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross

We bring to the attention of those who are going to Lunik IX the possibility of attending the 11:00 a.m. mass. Mons. Vladimír Fekete, SDB, Slovak bishop who serves in Azerbaijan will celebrate this mass. Don Jozef Luscoň SDB will say the homily. There is an opportunity for priests to concelebrate: they will need to indicate their interest on the parish registration form. They need to bring their own alb and red stole.

At all public events of the Apostolic Journeys of the Holy Father, it is necessary to go through security checks. For this reason, the sectors at Lunik IX will also be open from 9.00 am.

Spiritual preparation for the participants

As part of the immediate spiritual preparation, we will join together in the novena to the Roma Blessed Martyrs Zephyrinus and Emilia.

Celebration of Holy Mass on the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross

Based on the many requests, the decision has been made to celebrate Holy Mass at 11:00 AM on the backfield DIRECTLY AT THE LOCOMOTIVE STADIUM. This Holy Mass will be celebrated by Cardinal Dominik Duka OP, Archbishop of Prague. There is an opportunity for priests to concelebrate: they will need to indicate their interest on the parish registration form. Priests should bring their own alb; a red stole will be provided to them.

Opening of the stadium

At all public events of the Apostolic Journeys of the Holy Father, it is necessary to go through security checks. For this reason, the gates of the Locomotive Stadium will be open from 8.00am

Please plan your arrival well in advance so that you can pass through the security checks on time and without stress.

Filling the stadium

Sectors in the stadium will be filled gradually (once a sector is filled, it will be closed and the next sector will be filled). Although this meeting is PRIORITELY FOR YOUNG PEOPLE aged 15-30 years, who will be directed to the grass area of the stadium, OLDER PEOPLE CAN ALSO COME AND WILL BE DIRECTED TO THE SECTORS AROUND THE PERIMETER OF THE STADIUM, TO THE STADIUM SEATS. We also encourage families with children to feel free to take this opportunity to meet the Pope and receive his apostolic blessing directly.
