Timetable of the visit

Šaštín, 15 September 2021

Pope Francis will celebrate Holy Mass, together with cardinals, bishops and priests, beginning at 10.00 am.

All participants must be in the sectors no later than 8.00 am. After that, the access will be closed: it will be no longer possible to get to the site.

  • Car: Description of access routes:

    For those coming from Bratislava/Brno (CZ), we recommend to use the D2 motorway up to the Kúty exit. Then continue on the road number 2/I until the roundabout in Kúty. Then take the first exit to join the road number 500/II through Kúty and Čáry to the territory of Šaštín-Stráže. Before entering the town, it is necessary to park the vehicle in the marked parking lots, according to the instructions of Police officers and organizers. From the car park, it is necessary to move on foot along the marked route to the place where Holy Mass will be celebrated. The walk will take approximately 19 minutes.

    It is also possible to use the Moravský Svätý Ján exit from the D2 motorway and continue along the road number 2/I to Moravský Sv. Ján. There, at kilometre 30.5, you need to turn left onto road 1140/III and continue through Sekule, Borský Sv. Jur and Kuklov to Šaštín-Stráže. Before entering the town, it is necessary to park the vehicle in the marked parking lots according to the instructions of Police officers and organizers. From the car park, it is necessary to move on foot along the marked route to the place where Holy Mass will be celebrated. The walk will take about 15 minutes.

    If you are coming from Malacky, we recommend using the road number 2/I through Veľké Leváre to Moravský Sv. Ján. There, at km 30.5, turn right onto road 1140/III and continue as above.

    Also, coming from Malacky, it is possible to use the road number 590/II through Studienka, Lakšárska Nová Ves and Borský Mikuláš. There, at kilometre 28.0, turn left onto road 1143/III and continue until Šaštín-Stráže. Before entering the town, it is necessary to park the vehicle in the marked parking lots according to the instructions Police officers and organizers. From the car park, it is necessary to walk along the marked route along Jána Hollého and Štúrová streets to the place where Holy Mass will be celebrated. The walk will take about 30 minutes.

    If coming from Skalice/Sudoměřice (CZ), we recommend using the road number 426/II up to the roundabout in Holíč. There, please use the 2nd exit to road number 2/I. After approximately 1.5 km turn left onto road number 590/II and continue through Petrova Ves until you reach the town of Šaštín-Stráže. Before entering, it is necessary to park the vehicle in the marked parking lots according to the instructions of Police officers and organizers. From the car park, it is necessary to follow the marked route along Hviezdoslavova Street and then along the right bank of the Myjava River, on foot to the place where Holy Mass will be celebrated. The walk takes about 25 minutes.

    If coming from Hodonín (CZ), we recommend using the road number 51/I up to the roundabout in Holíč. There, please take the first exit onto the road number 2/I and continue as above.

    If you arrive from Czech Republic and drive through Senica, at the main crossroads, please turn onto the road 500/II and continue through Dojč to Šaštín-Stráže. At the very beginning of the town, it is necessary to park the vehicle in the marked parking lots according to the instructions of Police officers and organizers. From the car park, it is necessary to follow the marked route along the local road, crossing Hviezdoslavova Street and then along the right bank of the Myjava River, on foot to the place where Holy Mass will be celebrated. The walk takes about 12 minutes.

  • IT IS ALSO POSSIBLE TO USE THE RAILWAY TRANSPORT TO GET TO ŠASTÍN

    Passenger trains arrive from two transfer stations - Trnava and Kúty. Passengers arrive directly at the railway station Šaštín-Stráže. After getting off the train, it is necessary to walk along the marked route along Nádražná, Do Gazárky and Štúrova streets to the place where Holy Mass will be celebrated. The walk takes about 10 minutes.

    No shuttle buses will be available.

  • Entrance to the event

    How do I enter the site?
    Checkpoints will open at 10pm on 14 September 2021.
    Checkpoints will be marked on the map of the venue.

  • What should I prepare at the checkpoint?

    Vaccination check (printed document with QR code, which you will receive after registration) + ID card check => after the QR code and ID check you will enter the site => then follows the security check => then you will enter the sector.

    Important: You may not change sector after entering. If you leave it (e.g. to use the toilet), you must return to the same sector. Because of the current epidemic measures, you will be registered in the sector - for the purpose of possible epidemic contact tracing. Water and sanitary facilities will be available for you at the line of your sector.

  • - Bring only essential personal belongings. Limit metal objects to minimum: (mobile phones, cameras, binoculars, key bundles, chains, watches, thermoses, pocket knives, foldable chairs, etc.) Do not leave personal belongings unattended.
  • - It is forbidden to bring: firearms and their replicas, tear gas, tear gas canisters, electric stun guns, knives, metal rods, long sharp objects, etc.
  • - A no-fly zone for air traffic will be declared for the spots of the visit for several days in advance and during the stay of the Holy Father. This restriction also applies to drones.
  • - It is forbidden to bring animals, with exception of trained guide dogs assisting people with disabilities.
  • - In case of any health or safety issue, please contact the nearest volunteer (reflective vest) or the nearest police officer, military officer or paramedic (uniform).
  • - Consumption of alcoholic beverages is strictly forbidden! The same applies to smoking, advertisement of political parties (by word, clothing, flags, etc.) and promotion of all kinds of commercial entities.
  • - The organizer has the right to withdraw the permission to participate to anyone who refuses to comply with the rules.
  • - Drinking water will be available in tankers on the premises. Refreshments can only be purchased in the parking lots area, not in the event area itself.
  • Entrances to the event area will close at 8:00am.
  • For the necessary time before arrival of the Holy Father, movement in the corridors (even to toilets) will be restricted.
